Prejudice meets Pride by Rachael Anderson – review

After years of pinching pennies and struggling to get through art school, Emma Makie’s hard work finally pays off with the offer of a dream job. But when tragedy strikes,18586095she has no choice but to make a cross-country move to Colorado Springs to take temporary custody of her two nieces. She has no money, no job prospects, and no idea how tobe a mother to two little girls, but she isn’t about to let that stop her. Nor is she about to accept the help of Kevin Grantham, her handsome neighbor, who seems to think she’s incapable of doing anything on her own.
Prejudice Meets Pride is the story of a guy who thinks he has it all figured out and a girl who isn’t afraid to show him that he doesn’t. It’s about learning what it means to trust, figuring out how to give and to take, and realizing that not everyone gets to pick the person they fall in love with. Sometimes, love picks them.

When you hear the title Prejudice Meets Pride, your mind goes directly to Jane Austen’s character, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. But, this is not that kind of a story, it’s with Mr. Darcy, named here Kevin, full of prejudice and with an Elizabeth, named here Emma, full with pride and stubbornness.

It’s the story of a girl who’s left with two smart nieces after their mother died and their father needed to work, having to raise them with the help of their sexy and gorgeous next door neighbor and the family down the street.

Adelynn and Kajsa are truly two amazing little girls that make you want to read the story just to know what will happen to them and to their aunt. You’re sympathetic when you find out what has happened with their parents and just adore them like they’re your own nieces. Adi and Kajsa are hilarious and smart and playful and you wish that all the kids in the world were like these two girls.

Emma is a wonderful aunt, who always puts her behind when it comes to her nieces. As a woman, she is interesting and smart and she has the soul of an artist, she’s kind and dreamy and she tends to be a know-it-all sometimes. Actually, she is the most stubborn character and person I’ve ever come across. There were times when I wanted to yell at her: GET OVER YOURSELF!!! THAT GUY LOVES YOU! DON’T SCREW IT!!!!! Kevin is so kind to her and she doesn’t appreciate it at all until the very end when she finally sees him as the Prince Charming in shining armor that he is.

Kevin is amazing from my point of view. He is kind, tender, loves the kids, he’s got a lot of humor and an insufferable mother (at first). He’s always there by Emma’s side to help her with anything sheCombat-Hospital-Cast-combat-hospital-23093673-999-1500 needs.  I envision him as Luke Mably because he has that warmth in his eyes when he looks at Emma. I didn’t understand why it took him so long to accept that he’s in love with her. I know you have prejudice, she is not on your league but, come on, your a MAN or what????

My opinion is that you should read this book because it will make you life a lot easier just thinking you are not in Emma’s shoes. We girls all need a Kevin in our life to help and save us when we’re in trouble because we all are damsel in distress. I think we all have a little of Emma’s stubbornness in us because we are women and we can take care of anything, until we realize maybe we’re not alone. A man in need is a man indeed 🙂 Girls, we were made to conquer everything and to be our own support.

I believe this book is for all the women in the world who are independent but loved by their man.

Rating: 4,5 from 5 stars.
